Predecessor Tenacity: Items, CC Reduction, and Limits
Predecessor tenacity reduces crowd control duration. Learn how the 60% cap works, which items grant it, and how Flux Matrix can make disables last longer.

What Does Tenacity Do?
A shorter stun can give you an opening to escape or fight back. Predecessor tenacity reduces how long many crowd control effects last, letting you regain control of your hero sooner. Before buying an item for this stat, identify which enemy abilities are keeping you locked down.
The percentage represents the reduction in an affected crowd control effect’s duration. For example, a fully built Vanguardian grants 20% tenacity, shortening a 1-second stun to 0.8 seconds.
That reduction changes the duration of the disable. It does not make your hero immune to the effect or prevent it from landing.

The 60% Cap and Crowd Control Exceptions
Tenacity has a 60% maximum. An affected crowd control effect can therefore lose up to 60% of its original duration, but stacking the stat cannot eliminate that effect entirely.

Two exceptions matter when planning your build:
| Crowd Control Type | Does Tenacity Shorten It? |
|---|---|
| Stuns | Yes |
| Knock ups | No |
| Suppression | No |
Check the type of control that is stopping you before investing in more tenacity. If a knock up or suppression is the problem, adding this stat will not shorten that disable.
Avoid chasing additional duration reduction beyond the cap. Evaluate an item’s other benefits once your build reaches that limit.
Which Items Grant Tenacity?
The following items provide tenacity:

- Absolution
- Equinox
- Gaia Greaves
- Heroic Guard
- Legacy
- Raiment of Renewal
- Salvation
- Tainted Charm
- Tenacious Drape
- Tenacious Gem
- Unbroken Will
- Vanguardian
- World Breaker
Use these names to find options when adjusting your build against crowd control. Compare each item’s full stats and effects with what your hero needs, then weigh the tenacity alongside those benefits.
Vanguardian’s 20% tenacity provides a straightforward example of the stat’s effect, but do not assume every item in the list grants that same amount. Read each item’s description before committing to a purchase.
Negative Tenacity and Flux Matrix
Tenacity can fall below zero. When that happens, affected crowd control lasts longer than its normal duration.

Flux Matrix’s Unstable Shackles reduces the tenacity of nearby enemy Heroes by 20%. An enemy starting at 0% tenacity drops to -20%, causing affected crowd control effects to last an additional 20%.
That interaction makes proximity important. Watch your distance from an enemy carrying Flux Matrix when preparing to engage: its nearby debuff can leave you disabled longer.
If you carry Flux Matrix, position close enough for Unstable Shackles to affect the intended target before your team applies crowd control. Account for the target’s starting tenacity—the -20% result specifically applies to a target that began at 0%.
